Ann Stockdale

Ann Stockdale has always been an evolving artist. Today a beloved Northwest painter, Ann originally began her artistic career as an actress, studying at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and later becoming part of London’s 60s music scene with talents such as (Seattle’s own) Jimi Hendrix. Lucky for us, Ann has been dedicated to painting for 35 years now.  Born in Miami, educated in London, Ann became interested in developing her creative ideas in a way that expressed her own world vision after a stint on Broadway and a few film appearances. Always in the background of her young life was her passion for rhythm and color which culminated in her growing desire to express herself visually.  Her work has been exhibited in many galleries, sold on Cruise Lines, and has been honored with a solo show at the Frye Art Museum in Seattle. Her work has also been featured at the Tacoma Art Museum and at the Corcoran Art Museum in Washington, D.C.  Ann explains that “Music has always been a big part of my life in art. The music I listen to while painting attracts a certain spirit energy my way. I began knowing these wonderful invisible entities when I was about three years old…and would climb a big Banyan tree to spend time with them.” Barlow Gallery is honored to showcase Ann’s work in our different galleries. To shop for prints of Ann's artwork in various sizes and materials, click HERE.
